Mission Possible: Pad Thai

Okay okay.... Monica this is for you and your eager requests for pics!

Finally! Make a mad dash out of SLP before the sun set and we catch the 110 bus to Itaewon, the land of strangers in a strange land (we're not going for the men in uniform but damn good Thai food at Buddha's Belly). Rush hour traffic fumes smog and smear up the back of the bus' window ... ain't it pretty?

Ahh the bus, we love the bus! Efficient, cheap, clutch riding jerk stops, prevalent, and we can actually see what area we head into (a view is worth a thousand words, or Korean characters for that matter)! Jess is faring far better than I after being here for a few days and due to her good note taking we have some clue as to how to find our destination. ESL teachers unite! It's so much more fun to get lost with somebody so you have a partner in crime to laugh over beer with when you can't seem to make heads or tails of anything but your pint glass...

We make it to the land of the U.S. military station and restaurants that harken of "home" to anyone that's not Korean. Jess and I couldn't tell if we got off on the right stop but a little walk at dusk never hurt anyone. I'm donning my fabulous mask as we hoof it through the streets looking not for street signs (they don't really exist here) but landmarks like KFC (ick!!) and Gecko's nightclub to find the alley where we make a right to the best Thai in town...

If only we could get out this early everyday, I felt like I was actually getting a taste of travel again- delish! Now if only we could manage to not get run down by a motorbike!

We found the KFC, we made a right turn up the alley- right into a blue trolley truck that's barreling down at us - can you see him in the distance with the lonely little headlight? Well, he aimed right for us as per usual and I took a picture of him much to his chagrin (he honked furiously) but unfortunately the image didn't get properly captured.

Yay we made it! So hungry, so cold and so ready for Pad Thai!
